How do I enter?
You will need to send us an entry form complete with payment and S.A.E to our P.O. Box address (to reach us by no later than Friday 23/09/16). Individual entry forms in Word or PDF format are available here. Club Stand representatives and Traders will need to book in slightly differently. Please use the "How to Book" menu tab above for more info. From Saturday 24th September 2016, only "Pay on the Day" entries are accepted.
Is the Entry per person or per car?
Each entry is per car so you can have as many passengers as you like. Only one free t-shirt is issued per entry form providing we receive your completed entry by post no later than Friday 23/09/16. Additional t-shirts can be purchased using the same entry form.
How do I pay for my entry?
If you are entering by post you can pay by cheque or postal order made out to "South London & Surrey LRC". Do not send cash by post. If you are paying on the day, you can only pay by cash. If you are paying for a large group in one single payment, a BACS payment can be pre-arranged. Please email us for our BACS details.
Can I enter on the day?
Yes you can enter on the day (this includes Saturday 01/10/16) but you will not receive a free t-shirt (these are pre-ordered only). Entry fee remains the same. We will only accept cash for "Pay on the Day" entries. This is due to the increasing number of uncleared cheques we have received in the past from late entries.
What about the LEZ (Low Emission Zone)?
The LEZ now affects central and most of Greater London. In 2012, the L2B start venue moved to Hook Road Arena which is outside the Zone boundary so that we can continue to hold this event for anyone who owns a Land Rover regardless of its age, fuel / body type etc. Both of our venues and the official route from the start to finish are completely outside the LEZ boundary. Directions from the M25 (J8) to find us at Hook Road, avoiding the LEZ, can be downloaded here. The official L2B route from Hook Road Arena to Brighton will be printed in our run programme (part of your goody bag). If your Land Rover is a diesel it may not be LEZ compliant, so if you find yourself lost on the road, or choose to approach Hook Road from a different direction, please observe the LEZ warning signs. SLSLRC and the L2B organising team will not be held responsible for anyone who gets caught inside the Zone. For more details on whether your vehicle is LEZ compliant or not, click HERE.
What time does the camp/start venue open?
The gates to Hook Road Arena will be open for L2B entrants from 2pm on Saturday 01/10/16. The registration tent will be open from 4pm onwards. The L2B organising team take over the venue from another event around lunchtime, so if you arrive early please bear with us while we alter things around to suit our needs.
Is there a specific order of entrants leaving Hook Road Arena on Sunday morning?
Yes, all clubs having a stand at Brighton need to leave first so they can arrive early at the finish to set up their stands. Some traders also camp so they need to leave with the clubs for the same reason. Once all the clubs / traders have left, the first individual entrants set off. Please follow the marshals' instructions as we need to set everyone off in small groups to avoid congestion and annoyance to the locals. Exact start times to be advised but normally the individual entrants set off anytime after 8am.
Can I bring a caravan / trailer?
No, this is due to the very limited parking spaces at Brighton. Only a Trader or Club Stand may have a trailer (at our discretion) providing it is a necessary part of their stand set up and will fit within the dimensions of their booked stand size to include cars on the stand.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes dogs are very welcome at our event. Please ensure they are kept on a lead at all times and you have a poop scoop handy to clean up any mess. If we have unseasonably hot weather, we also ask that you do not leave them inside a hot car without suitable ventilation.
Do I have to camp overnight?
No, many entrants choose to arrive at Hook Road Arena from about 5.30am hrs on the Sunday morning. Please aim to arrive before 7.30am to allow time to book in and listen to the drivers' briefing before the run starts. The Hook Road Arena L2B team normally pack up at around 10am on Sunday to leave for Brighton themselves.
What facilities do you have at the Start (camping) venue?
Camping is free at our start venue. On site we have toilets (including for disabled), a caterer, flag seller, 1st aiders and our registration tent where you need to book in to collect your goody bag and t-shirt. There are also local shops within walking distance from the venue.
Are we allowed to bring a B-B-Q?
Yes you can have a personal B-B-Q but the base of the B-B-Q must be raised off the ground. This is to prevent any ground damage and scorching. You must also bag up all B-B-Q waste (incl fuel waste) and either take it with you or use the skips/bins provided. Please make sure all used coal etc has been put out and dampened before disposing in the skips/bins. Only B-B-Qs for personal use are allowed. You must not bring food to sell to other entrants (this goes against our catering agreement and regulation rules).
I don't currently have a Land Rover, can I still enter with another car?
No, as the event name suggests, it is a Land Rover only event so sadly any other makes are not permitted. If you know anyone else who is going with a Land Rover, why not join them in their car as a passenger.
What happens at Brighton?
Once you arrive, marshals will direct you to your parking area. All trade stands and clubs with stands exhibit at Brighton. We have a main arena which will host a range of activities /demonstrations throughout the afternoon. The "Best in Class" judging, Tug-a-Landy competition, prize presentation and draw for our Raffle takes place at Brighton. Local shops on Madeira Drive will be open all day selling food etc. Madeira Drive also has toilet facilities both by the shops and also near Dukes Mound at the other end. The beach and Pier is also open during our event.
I want to go straight to Brighton, is thispossible?
Goody bags / t-shirts / plaques can only be collected from the registration tent at our start venue, Hook Road Arena from 4pm on 01/10/16 to around 9am on 02/10/16 (The registration tent will close from 10pm on the Saturday and re-open 6am on Sunday). You will only be able to enter Madeira Drive if you have a valid entry pass and plaque. If you know someone who is also entered, they could collect your goody bag etc for you but they must have your valid entry pass to do so. You could then meet them on route to receive your pass etc, not near the venue entrances which would cause congestion. If you don't have a valid entry pass etc when you arrive at Madeira Drive you will NOT be allowed in unless you pay the full entry fee at the gate. NO Pass, NO Entry, NO Exceptions.
Are there disabled facilities at each venue?
Yes, we have a dedicated area for disabled parking at both venues plus a portable disabled toilet at Hook Road Arena. Madeira Drive's toilets are wheelchair friendly. Please let us know on your entry form (at the top) that you will require disabled parking concessions so we can allocate enough space at both venues. You must have your disabled blue / orange badge on display on the day and tell the marshals at the front gate (both venues) so they can immediately direct you to the correct parking area.
Are my contact details on the entry form passed on to anyone else?
No, the SLSLRC and L2B organising team promise to NEVER sell or pass on your details to a third-party, accept where requested to do so by the Police or other Government law enforcement agency. The email address and phone number you supply is so that we can email you an invite for next year's event or contact you if there is a query with your entry form. The S.A.E you supply is necessary for us to send your official entry pass back to you by post.
